Using Sozi for Presentations

Using Sozi for Presentations

Sozi is a tool for presentations made using zooms and rotations, not just slides. Uses Javascript added to the .svg file to display in web-browsers. Sozi is an extension that runs in inkscape.

Inkscape

An Open Source vector graphics editor, with capabilities similar to Illustrator, CorelDraw, or Xara X, using the W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format.
Inkscape supports many advanced SVG features (markers, clones, alpha blending, etc.) and great care is taken in designing a streamlined interface. It is very easy to edit nodes, perform complex path operations, trace bitmaps and much more. Sozi is an extension that runs in inkscape.

Sozi

A tool for presentations made using zooms and rotations, not just slides. It uses Javascript added to the .svg file to display in web-browsers.
Sozi allows presenting images and text for an all-sides on a page presentation. You build and zoom to arears of the page you want to show or talk about whiles allowing you to view your all "slides" on a page. Because it runs in a graphics vector application you have great freedom in resizing pictures without resolution detoriating and edit every part of your work in detail. You can add amazing designs! For example it is excellent for presenting images i.e. skeletal structure; you zoom for individual shapes. Inkscape (Sozi) is free, complete, multi-faceted  and runs on multiple OS. Just download and install inkscape and then Sozi.

How to Sozi

  1. Put all slides on a page in inkscape
  2. Draw a rectangular shape over the areas you wish to show
  3. Select the shape, open and click on sozi from the extensions
  4. Give it a name (eg slide 1)
  5. Repeat for all slides
  6. Save as .SVG
  7. Open file with any browser

  1. Sozi seems to be provide an alternative to the conventional slide presentation most people are accustomed to.
As a consultant what would you say are the significant differences between Sozi and Prezi. Of the two, which one better enhances ones ability to deliver powerful, captivating, and memorable presentation.

  2. Prezi is a cloud-based presentation software, its as great as Sozi but requires internet access. You may also have to pay over $150 per annum for the "Pro". Free Prezi has a limited space and presentation is public. Sozi is free, unlimited, runs in a vector graphics application (inkscape) meaning that you are on a creative platform.

  3. Sozi looks gives your presentation some kind of animation feature which is quite interesting. Now one can do a more elaborate presentation with Sozi than just using the print screen function.Great work Prince for drawing our attention to Sozi.
